Wrinkle correction injectables (Botulinum Toxin)

How it works?

Wrinkle correction treatment (commonly known as Botulinum Toxin) when administered has the effect of temporarily weakening the muscles responsible for wrinkling, giving the face a more relaxed, pleasant and younger appearance. Over time the wrinkles become smoother or may disappear altogether.

What Botulinum Toxin?

It is a purified protein, which has the effect of temporarily weakening muscles. It has safely and effectively been used in medicine for over many years. It has been used successfully used in cosmetic treatment for over 20 years and has been proven to given very satisfactory results.

How long does treatment last?

The initial effects of treatment become visible within 2-3 days. The maximum effect is reached after about 2 weeks. Your facial expression will become more relaxed but by no means mask-like. The overall result is very natural. The effect of wrinkle treatment generally lasts 3-4 months, depending on the patient. The longer you have been having wrinkle correction treatment the longer the effects will last. If you do decide to stop having wrinkle correction treatment, any permanent lines and wrinkles will gradually return.

Can treatment be used to correct deeper lines?

If your lines are very deep we may also discuss the additional use of dermal fillers which contain Hyaluronic acid to fill in and smooth wrinkles (please see below)

Why have treatment?

Many people chose to have Botulinum toxin to look fresher, less tired, less stressed and ultimately younger.

Dermal Fillers

What are Dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are used to plump up the skin, refine facial contours, smooth out wrinkles and furrows and enhance lips. The result of treatment leaves your skin looking younger and healthier, whilst still maintaining a natural look.

What are they made from?

The fillers we use are made from a substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body, it is a natural part of our skin that exists in abundance in our youth; it attracts water, resulting in plumpness and hydration of our skin. As its presence diminishes with age facial lines fold and wrinkles appear.

Is it safe?

Dermal fillers are very safe. As hyaluronic acid based fillers are non-animal based these are fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required, and it is broken down and eliminated by the body through natural processes.

Does it hurt?

Prior to any dermal filler treatment a mild anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area for your comfort. Local anaesthetic is also used when necessary.

How long does it last?

Results can vary according to a person’s age, genetic background, skin quality, lifestyle and aftercare. In general it normally lasts for an average of 4 - 6 months.

Why have fillers?

Not only can fillers help disguise lines furrows and wrinkles they can also help enhance and define lips and also improve facial contour which can make such a difference.

PDO thread therapy

What is PDO thread therapy?

Thread lift treatments are a minimally invasive procedure using dissolvable PDO threads (Polydioxanone threads – a medical grade thread used for suturing over 20 years) which are broken down naturally by the body over time. PDO thread lifts are designed to rejuvenate, regenerate and improve your facial structure, giving you the same benefits as a facelift, but without the need for surgery.

What are the threads made of?

The threads used in the lifting treatment are made of soluble polydioxanone which is a material that has been used in medicine for many years. Research has proven that the material relaxes muscles and tendons, and also stimulates the production of new collagen in the skin. PDO also stimulates the synthesis of elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin, both of which are vital for keeping the skin looking plump and youthful.

How does it work?

The PDO thread is inserted into the skin through a very fine needle or cannula. Depending on the area to be treated, the thread is introduced into either the skin; the subcutaneous fat; or the muscle. A lifted appearance can be seen immediately following the treatment, however, the results will improve in the following days and weeks. The overall texture of the skin is improved and it becomes thicker, tighter and firmer. The finer liens and wrinkles are smoothed away.

Different lengths and thicknesses of thread are used for different areas of the face. Short strands of threads can be used to treat fine line around the eye, while thicker strands can be injected into the muscles of the forehead as an alternative to Botox treatment.

How long does it last?

The threads are naturally absorbed by the body in 6 to 8 months but the effect can last more than 2 years.
